Pfizer to pay $2.3 billion, agrees to criminal plea

Pfizer agreed to plead guilty to a U.S. criminal charge relating to promotion of its now-withdrawn Bextra pain medicine and will pay a record $2.3 billion to settle allegations it improperly marketed 13 medicines. The world's biggest drugmaker was slapped with the huge fines after being deemed a repeat offender in pitching drugs to patients and doctors for unapproved conditions.

With the purchase, WraSer is granted full rights to market and distribute Trezix® in the United States. Trezix® received final FDA approval in April 2007. The product combines Acetaminophen and Caffeine with the narcotic analgesic Dihydrocodeine, representing a safe and effective therapy for the treatment of mild to moderate pain.

Nutra Pharma Corp. has announced that it has launched an over-the-counter (OTC) pain reliever, Cobroxin. The drug, which was developed by Nutra Pharma’s wholly-owned drug discovery subsidiary, ReceptoPharm, will be available as an oral spray for treating lower back pain, migraines, neck aches, shoulder pain, cramps and neuralgia and as a topical gel for treating repetitive stress, arthritis, and joint pain.
