Organizations are as vital as their
members' enthusiasm. To have a responsive organization that meets
the needs of its members, the Academy invites members to join
committees. The following AAPM committees are looking for energetic,
committed members with an interest in making a difference. Please
consider joining one of these committees and helping the Academy
remain vital and responsive to your needs.
Provides recommendations to the Board of
Directors for Annual Clinical Meeting award recipients of The
Emerging Research Award, The Liebeskind Research Award, The
Janet Travell Clinical Pain Management Award, and The Richard
S. Weiner Pain Management Education Award. Committee members
include former award recipients. Interested members must send
an e-mail or letter of interest and a brief curriculum vita
to Debra Nelson-Hogan Director of
Education (dhogan@seersha.com).
Provides assistance with credentials reviews to determine eligibility for Academy credentialing. Members must be willing to travel to the Academy offices in Sonora, California to periodically participate in reviews of applicants. To serve on the Credentialing Committee please contact Christine Wright, Program Accreditation and Credentialing Manager (christine@aapainmanage.org).
Provides advice, ideas and suggestions for the planning and implementation of Academy educational offerings. Committee members participate in the development of needs assessment, review outcome data from the needs assessment and speaker's evaluations from the Annual Clinical Meeting to help set the educational agenda for the coming year. During the development of the Annual Clinical Meeting agenda committee members are encouraged to make faculty recommendations. During the Annual Clinical Meeting committee members serve as track moderators, and assist the Director of Education. Provides assistance with development of the Credentialing Examination given to become a Credentialed Pain Practitioner. Committee members should expect to participate in two meetings annually. The first meeting is the Wednesday before the Annual Clinical Meeting and the second is in Kansas City in April. Interested members who are already credentialed must send an e-mail or letter of interest and a brief curriculum vita to Colette Such, Credentialing Coordinator(colette@aapainmanage.org).
Provides advice concerning the activities of the Pain Program Accreditation (PPA) services
of the American Academy of Pain Management. Committee members
must be affiliated with a PPA approved program. Committee members
should expect to participate in a meeting held on the Wednesday
before the Annual Clinical Meeting. Members work with the Program Accreditation and Credentialing Manager, to review survey
reports and to review research using the Pain Outcomes
Profile (POP). Please
contact Karten Sullivan,(ksullivan@aapainmanage.org) to
join this committee if you are now affiliated with a PPA approved
pain program.
