Mayday Pain & Society Fellowship: Call for Applications for 2007
The Mayday Fund announced today that it will begin accepting applications for the 2007 Mayday Pain & Society Fellowship; A Media & Policy Fellows Initiative. The American Pain Society today announced recipients of its first Clinical Centers of Excellence in Pain Management Awards honoring the nation's outstanding pain care centers. The deadline for commenting on the FDA’s Draft Guidance for Industry entitled, “Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration” is April 30, 2007. Overall, 5.68 percent of Oregon residents have abused prescription drugs in the past year. Among young adults aged 18 to 25, 14.28 percent, or approximately one in seven, report misuse of a prescription drug. Treatment admissions in Oregon for pain killers and other opiates (except heroin) increased approximately 130 percent from 1999 through 2005. Story

Poisonous tree frog brings hope to indigenous community in the Amazon

Used for centuries as a natural disease prevention and physical stimulant, an Amazonian tree frog has become a symbol of Brazil's fight to benefit the Indigenous from scientific developments based on their knowledge.
